Introduction

 

Mr. Eric Heung studied law at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and was admitted as a Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1995. His practice primarily involves commercial and criminal litigation, though his experience extends well beyond these areas. Mr. Heung handles a diverse range of litigation cases involving multinational corporations and represents clients in courts of all levels, as well as special tribunals and regulatory bodies in Hong Kong, including but not limited to, the Insurance Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Additionally, he possesses extensive experience in cross-border litigation and arbitration. 

 

Notable experience

 

- Successfully assisted a client, originally alleged to be from Mainland China, in revoking a deportation order issued by the Director of Immigration for allegedly holding and using a forged foreign passport to enter Hong Kong. He also helped her obtain a Hong Kong identity card, travel document, and right of residence in Hong Kong as a stateless person.

 

- Served as a member of the defence team for Mr. Carson Yeung Ka Sing, former president of Birmingham F.C., in his money laundering charges in the District Court of Hong Kong.

 

- Acted as the legal advisor for Mr. Chan Kau Tai in a high-profile bribery case.

 

- Engaged as a member of the defence team in proceedings initiated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (“ICAC”) for Mr. Tse Sui Luen, founder of TSL Jewellery, a global jewellery retail group.

 

- Represented a defendant in the case of Convoy Global Holdings Limited and others v Cho Kwai Chee Roy and others.

 

- Successfully assisted the Plaintiff client in a construction dispute case in the High Court of Hong Kong in Ipson Renovation Limited v the Incorporation Owners of Connie Tower for a claim against the Defendant.

 

- Taking a supervisory role in the legal team for Shun Hing Engineering Contracting Company Limited in proceedings commenced by the Competition Commission.

 

- Successfully defended a claim brought by a claimant in liquidation against a Mainland client for over US$300 million in arbitration in Hong Kong.

 

- Acted as Partner in charge for the respondent in a Hong Kong matrimonial litigation case involving ancillary relief and an injunction application for more than 80 landed properties.

 

Mr. Heung is also a former part-time lecturer of a non-government educational organization, where he taught various law-related courses, including a diploma course for the disciplinary force. He served as the course leader and examiner for the Professional Diploma in Disciplinary Force Management: Legal Practice for Disciplinary Officers.

 

Since 2021, Mr. Heung has been a member of the China People's Political Consultative Conference Guilin Committee.
